I have just recently met WaterRose and wow she’s from Central Ohio! I’m in central ohio! COOL!!!
Check out the detail in her work. This one is just stunning!

Q: Tell us a little about yourself and your designs.
I’m originally from Central Ohio and grew up listening to the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Janis Joplin to name a few. I have always been into crafts, learning to quilt from my grandmother and to embroider from my mom. I use to make all of my own clothing in high school. In fact, in home ec one year I made a dress and almost flunked the class. My teacher didn’t believe that I made it and brought my parents in to attest to the fact that I did make it. She also stood over me while giving me instructions on what she wanted me to sew without directions from her. Ohhhh she was mean!
Q: Where did the idea for your designs originate
I have loved embroidery since I was a child. I learned from my mother, practicing on pillowcases and towels. I wasn’t doing much embroidery since you can have only so many embroidered pillowcases. After I found some beautiful felt and thought about what I was going to create an idea came to mind. I started out making embroidered felt rings and then decided to try on a larger canvas. That’s when I created the embroidered cuffs.
Q: What makes your items different from others?
I have seen a lot of textile cuffs, but I haven’t seen people making felted cuffs with embroidery designs.
Q: Do you offer custom orders?
I can do custom orders –as long as I can draw the design.
Q: What are your most popular items?
Both the embroidered rings and cuffs sell equally well. Two different price points allow people to purchase a hand designed item. The best seller as a cuff design is the green Lotus Flower cuff.
Q: What is your vision for your handmade business?
My vision is to do what I love and not lock myself into one medium. If I’m creating and making things that I love then I will be happy making them to sell. I’m also a quilter and would like to offer my quilts for sale in the near future.
Q: What has been the strangest/weirdest experience you’ve ever had when being inspired with a new item or new business venture?
I can’t say that there has been a strange or weird experience, but there has been an exciting one. When I was contacted by Quilting Arts Magazine to be featured in their Gift issue with my embroidered cuffs. When that issue arrived and I turned to the page my cuffs were on I jumped with joy.
Q: What is the most rewarding aspect of the etsy community for you and your business?
I love the interaction with people from all over the world. No matter what craft inspires you, as a crafter/artist we all have one basic need and that is to create –no matter where in the world you are. We also all need the materials to make our creations, so it creates a common bond in many aspects. We are all listening, reading, and watching how one another does things and often, we find a process that makes more sense then the way we are doing it.
Q: Does your family support your etsy business?
Yes. My husband is very supportive and inspiring. Sometimes he gets so excited by my creations and starts giving me so many ideas that I have to slow him down and remind him I am just one person and that he doesn’t happen to quilt or embroider! My children, who are grown and living their own lives ask me constantly what I’m creating. They also offer suggestions. My son came up with a great idea regarding a future project that will make the implementation so much easier. My daughter comes up with great ideas as well…but usually she wants me to make the first item for her –so there is an ulterior motive!
Q: Do you have a website off etsy, a blog, myspace, any other web site you would like to share?
